The Truck Stop : Need your opinion on a new load board

Need your opinion on a new load board

Hey guys!

Would love your feedback on a concept I am trying to develop. I am looking at creating a pay to post (say maybe a quarter or less per post) load board. Once you've paid to post your truck (or load for that matter) I want to make it available to anyone on the web without them having to sign up for an account, log in, or provide any personal information.

The idea behind comes from my days as a dispatcher with one of the largest transportation companies in the US (hint, they're in Green Bay, WI). We had multiple Getloaded.com ($45/month and up), Truckstop.com ($35/month and up), and Transcore 360 ($70-$400/month and up) accounts that we posted available trucks and loads on because those sites only allowed their members to view freight. We knew that not every company could afford to have EVERY account, and that some just had thier favorite site, so we paid to be on as many sites as possible. Allowing anyone to view the loads would eliminate (in my opinion) the need to have several accounts because anyone will be able to find your truck or load on my site.

What do you think? Any value in this? I know I would have to find a way to get loads and trucks on there for it to be valuable to anyone. But I think once people "did the math" it would make a lot of sense (especially for people that can't afford those monthly programs).

Thank you for your time!

Here is my opinion. MIght not be worth much but i have one hahaha..

You wnat them to have a account to log into where it costs .25 or even more. Reason i say this is you will have to have a way that they pay this amount to post the load on your board also you will need a way to receive payment. Paypal is a good method. it accepts many types of payments. CC check etc...

Well, I went ahead and did it. The site is in Beta (functional but testing phase). I would love your opinions on it. If the admin(s) of this site would be so kind as to allow me post the link here I will offer a free gift to it's users (if they delete the post I completely understand as well, they have to be very careful with what they allow).

http://www.freightbuilder.com

Promotional code: Loadme

This will allow you to post your truck (or available loads) a total of 50 times on the site for free.

Good luck with it. This forum was created with the intention of being a promotional tool for a site loadlister.com that fell through. It's coded and functional, but it was a bundle of frustration dealing with everyone I needed to deal with. Will never make a site dependent on so many outside parties ever again.

Hey guys I hope your load board has been doing well. I had hoped to try something similar at one point but I found the development was just a bit too much so now I have a worthless domain name. Anyways I have been working at a California trucking company for about 5 years now, in the office, and we developed a great dispatch software that was designed to be simple. We had tried a bunch like dr. dispatch but if you have used them you know they weren't made by truckers they were made by a bunch of bean counters. If you think you are interested in taking a look at this shoot me an e-mail. The real reason I posted was to push my latest project for truck drivers. I've made an online area for drivers to submit their personal stories and write about Customers they have had problems with. The goal of my new site is to establish a list of all the nasty customers out there that have been letting everything roll down hill to the owner operators. I am tired of telling drivers I can't pay this or pay that because of the customer's demand. Feel free to send me your opinion. the site is at http://www.truckermafia.com
Hope to hear from you guys soon!
